Maruti Suzuki Ertiga 2018
Well this blog is gonna be about the new generation Ertiga which has been recently launched in India. Talking about Ertiga further , it has been a successful car ever since its launch. The company marketed it as the LUV meaning ligth utility vehicle in other words you can call it a compact MPV. It is almost after 6 years that Maruti Suzuki has come up with next gen Ertiga. Maruti Suzuki has sold above 4 lakh units of Ertiga in India thereby making it one of the most popular MPVs along with mighty Toyota Innova .
The car is based on Maruti Suzuki’s new Heartect platform which also underpins Swift , Swift Dzire ; this platform is not only bigger but also lighter.Unlike the old car that looked staid and boring, the new Ertiga looks much more stylish and premium. The front grille consists splashes of chrome looks upmarket and the swept back projector headlamps look much more stylish. The chiseled front bumper with the boomerang shaped elements around the fog lamps help it look modern. Thanks to the larger wheels, the floating roof design and the two prominent creases running across the doors makes it look nicer.
Ertiga on the inside
Just like the exterior, the cabin is all-new and a pleasant place to be in. The dual tone dashboard looks elegant and the wood inserts on the dashboard looks convincing enough and gives it a very upmarket feel. The ZXi+ or the ZDi+ variants get the familiar touchscreen system as on other Maruti Suzuki cars, which now looks a bit old as compared to the other systems in other cars but is still good at its job. It gets Apple CarPlay and Android Auto and it can play music through a USB, Aux-in and SD card ports. Overall, the quality and interior ambience is good and much better than the previous Ertiga.
As compared to the old car, the features list updated except that the top end variants get climate control Air Conditioner. Not an issue because all the essentials like automatic climate control, touchscreen infotainment system, rear ceiling mounted air-con vents with blower speed control and Dual airbags and ABS is standard across the range. The cabin is very practical too, with two cup holders each for all three rows and big door pockets that can easily accommodate large one liter water bottles. What’s so awesome here is that the front cup-holders that are cooled, okay that is cool .
What is even special inside is the it is lager in length as well as width on space inside opening up enough space for second and the third row. The front two rows were already comfortable in the previous car and probably remain same now.But it is the second row and last row that has taken leap over the previous car.What makes this place lively is that it has huge glass area which makes cabin airy and provides good visibility and the occupants will never feel claustrophobic even when they sit in the last row. The Ertiga can take seven people in decent comfort and for a family with not many tall members. What adds to the comfort is the reclining third-row.
* Talking about the diesel
Ertiga comes with the same 1.3-liter, 88.5 bhp Fiat-sourced Multi jet engine just like the old car. There is turbo lag at lower revs so you need to shit gears constantly at lower speeds making it difficult to drive in bumper to bumper traffic. The engine awakens post 2000 rpm. It has got strong mid range and there is no response after 4500 rpm . The engine red lines at 5200 rpm. The engine is audible inside the cabin.
* Talking about the petrol
Ertiga comes with same new 1.5-liter, four cylinder K15 engine that debuted on the new Ciaz. It makes 103bhp and 138 Nm, which are decent outputs for this capacity what is disappointing is that it is a noisy engine. It’s best to be driven between 2,000 rpm and 4000 rpm. From post 4000 rpm with increasing revs, the noise only multiplies.
Strengths of Ertiga
- It being a compact MPV, you can use this car for your daily commute to work and use it as a family car for seven members on your weekend get away trips.
- If your driving is much in the city and you are looking forward to buy MPV then get this one.
- It is light, easy to drive, and more fuel efficient than traditional MPVs which is a big plus point that will target buyers.
- The new Ertiga isn’t just better looking than before but it also has better road presence, and a small air of luxury now.
Thus a car certainly worth buy in our opinion.
